Position Overview:

Suprema Medical Centre is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Occupational Therapist Assistant (OTA) with 2 years of work experience to join our rehabilitation team. The OTA will work under the supervision of a Licensed Occupational Therapist to assist in providing high-quality care to patients, helping them improve their ability to perform daily living activities. This role requires strong communication skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively with both patients and the healthcare team.

Key Responsibilities:

– Assist in Treatment Implementation: Carry out treatment plans designed by the Licensed Occupational Therapist (OT) to help patients regain or improve their physical and cognitive functions.

– Patient Assessment Support: Assist with assessments of patients’ abilities and progress under the direction of the OT, providing input to refine treatment plans as needed.

– Therapeutic Activities: Lead patients in therapeutic activities such as exercises, tasks, and techniques to improve their ability to complete daily living tasks like dressing, eating, and grooming.

– Patient Education: Educate patients and their families about techniques and exercises that will support continued progress outside of therapy sessions.

– Documentation: Accurately document patients’ progress, treatment outcomes, and any observations during therapy sessions in compliance with medical centre policies and regulations.

– Maintain a Safe Environment: Ensure that the therapy area is clean, organised, and free from hazards, and that all equipment is functioning properly.

– Team Collaboration: Collaborate with the OT and the interdisciplinary team to discuss patient progress, challenges, and any adjustments needed in therapy plans.

– Support Patient Advocacy: Advocate for the patients’ well-being, ensuring their needs and goals are communicated clearly and considered during the treatment planning process.

 

Qualifications:

– Education: Associate’s degree or equivalent certification from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.

– Experience: At least 2 years of relevant experience in a healthcare or rehabilitation setting, preferably working with diverse patient populations.

– Technical Skills: Familiarity with assistive devices, therapeutic equipment, and current occupational therapy techniques.

– Interpersonal Skills: Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to motivate patients and collaborate effectively with the healthcare team.

– Organisational Skills: Excellent time management and attention to detail, with the ability to document patient progress accurately.
